Mala Appachi

Dr. Mala Appachi is a board-certified pediatrician who joined Parsi Pediatrics in 2017. Dr. Appachi was born and brought up in Chennai, India. She graduated from the prestigious Madras University and completed her internship at Stanley Medical College hospital in Chennai. She obtained further training as a senior resident in Pediatrics and Internal Medicine at Railway Hospital in Chennai. She subsequently gained more pediatric training at Trafford General Hospital, Manchester, England.

Dr. Appachi emigrated to the US and completed her pediatric residency in one of the top pediatric programs – The Children’s Hospital at The Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.  After completion, she went into private practice in Cleveland for over 13 years. With her husband, they moved to San Antonio in 2014 and worked as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine in addition to conducting clinical duties at Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Primary Care Clinic for 3 years prior to joining Parsi Pediatrics.

She is married to Elumalai Appachi MD, who is a Pediatric Critical Care specialist at Christus Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital, and have two wonderful children. Her hobbies include yoga, hiking, reading books and listening to music.
